Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ will resume filming after Halyna Hutchins’ death

Alec Baldwin’s doomed Western “Rust” will resume filming after the production company agreed to settle the wrongful death lawsuit brought by the estate of slain cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, reports said Wednesday.

Matthew Hutchins, the husband of the film’s director of photography who was shot and killed by Baldwin in October, will be an executive producer on the film and production is slated to resume with the original cast in January, Deadline reported

“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed,” Matthew Hutchins said in a statement.

“I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame [to the producers or Mr. Baldwin],” he added.

“All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”

The remarks come about two weeks after Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies revealed she is preparing to criminally charge up to four people involved with the shooting and that Baldwin, 64, is a “possible defendant” in the case.
