COVID death of man in his 20s ‘referred to coroner’

New South Wales Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says the case of the man in his 20s who died of COVID-19 has been referred to the coroner.

“I understand it’s been referred to the coroner but I’ll just need to confirm that with the local health district, that he was being checked daily and he did complain of feeling a little fatigued but the deterioration happened suddenly, is my understanding,” she said.

“We are aware that with COVID you can get sudden deaths and I think that is important to understand that your health status can deteriorate and you can have sudden deaths with COVID infection.”
