Portsmouth takeaway The Grill Kitchen offers free meal to A-level students to reward them after a difficult 18 months
The Grill Kitchen, in Fratton Road, is offering A-level students a free meal to reward students and their families after a tough year of education.
The takeaway, which opened in February, will be offering the free meal to anybody who has proof of A-level results this year.
The business was set up by three Portsmouth lads – brothers Anhar and Rumen Islam and cousin Azmol Hussain – after they were inspired by their families’ long history in the hospitality industry.
The trio, who all went to Priory School, were working at takeaways across the city when they decided to pool their expertise.

Rumen said: ‘We opened a few months ago and it’s been going very well, we have a big menu, we have a vegan section, burgers, chicken all cooked freshly.’
Anhar said: ‘That’s why we have started a promotion to get new customers in and give back to the community. For the following week any A-level students coming in will get a free meal – burger, fries and a drink – that’s our way of giving back to the students who have struggled for the last 18 months. We know that it’s has been a hard time for them.’
Shahriar Uddin, who runs nearby Indian takeaway Paanchi, has been helping the trio get their business off the ground.
Shahriar, who is Anhar’s cousin, encouraged people to visit The Grill Kitchen and show them some support.
He said: ‘It is their way of giving back after what has been a difficult 18 months for students in particular because it has been very difficult to study.
‘We have members of the family who have been doing exams, and we have seen how difficult it has been for them not to be in classrooms learning.’
The offer will be lasting for a week and students will be able to claim their free meal by registering on the takeaway’s website or going into the store.
