Estate cars are a dying breed, especially in the compact segment. Renault no longer supplies an Estate of the current Clio generation, but Skoda would really come up with a new Fabia Combi. Would, indeed. The English Autocar reports that Skoda has dropped plans for a new Fabia Combi.

Even before Skoda presented the new Fabia, the brand indicated that it would come with a new Fabia Combi in 2023. A new Skoda Fabia Combi would have competitors in Europe at most in the form of the Dacia Jogger and Fiat Tipo Stationwagon. Compact estate cars in the Fabia segment are no longer found in other brands. Renault decided to delete the Estate version of the Clio at the last generation change of the model and the Seat Ibiza has also no longer been a station wagon since the introduction of the current model. Skoda would rigidly continue with the compact space giant. That does not appear to be the case, reports the English Autocar.

The strict emission requirements imposed by the EU would have thrown a spanner in the works for the Fabia Combi. Skoda will therefore focus more on the introduction of new electrified and electric models, which has cost the Fabia Combi the head. Although there will be no new Fabia Combi, you can still order the station version of the previous Fabia new. It will roll off the production line until the end of 2022. That car has a luggage space that at 530 liters is already considerably larger than that of the crossover alternative from Skoda: the Kamiq (400 liters). The new Fabia is in turn more spacious than its predecessor, which could have made a new Fabia Combi a true space miracle.

After three generations of Fabia Combi, it is finally over and out for the practical Czech.
