The (so far) most popular electric cars in the Netherlands

Earlier we took you through the most popular brands and models of 2022 so far. That yielded interesting insights. Although Kia is the most popular brand in the Netherlands to date in 2022, the Peugeot 208 is the most popular model. Almost 38 percent of all Peugeot 208s delivered in the Netherlands this year were fully electric. So it’s high time to find out what the most popular electric cars in the Netherlands are so far this year. A total of 59,743 new electric cars have already been registered this year, making EVs account for 21.2 percent of the total number of new cars registered this year.

Most popular electric cars (January-November 2022)

The most popular electric car of 2022 so far is neither a Kia nor a Peugeot nor a Tesla. In fact, there is not even a Tesla in the list of ten most popular EVs of 2022. With almost 5,000 units delivered between January and November, the Skoda Enyaq iV is by far the number one EV in our country. The Czech SUV has a market share of more than eight percent. The electric Peugeot 208 is in second position. The 3,423 e-208s account for 37.7 percent of total 208 sales. The Kia Niro Electric is in third place with more than 3,000 registered units. It is striking that the significantly higher positioned Kia EV6 is also quite close to the Niro. With 2,820 units, 1 in 20 electric cars delivered to date by 2022 was an EV6.

The Fiat 500 fell just outside the top 10 with 1,731 registered copies to date, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 also failed to enter this top 10 with 1,706 units. The same applies to the Polestar 2 (1,631 units) and the Tesla Model Y (1,598). We only find the Tesla Model 3 in place 36 with 511 registered copies. The Volkswagen ID3 is in 19th place with 1,463 registrations, just above the Opel Corsa-e (1,343). The Dacia Spring claims 22nd place with 1,178 units.

Interesting newcomers are the BYD Atto 3 (112 units), Toyota bZ4X (94), Nio ET7 (35), BYD Tang (35), Subaru Solterra (24), BMW i7 (10), Xpeng P7 (6). The large-scale delivery of these models has only just started or has yet to start.
