Yamaha starts R7 cup – Techzle

The Yamaha R7, the bike that we just tested and found to be good, will be used in 2022 in a real R7 cup. That’s a good idea for the following reasons:

With manageable power and a high-quality chassis, the R7 is the perfect bike to keep up with a racing series. GYTR performance parts specially developed for the R7 are intended to make the R7 the ideal base model for racing.

The R7 Cup is held all over Europe and is supported by the national importers. Yamaha wants to make it possible for drivers to participate in races at a reasonable price. The Cup is aimed at already active racers, but also at drivers who want to make the step from TrackDays to racing.

Dream Final

At the end of the season, the 36 best drivers from the national R7 Cups will meet and compete. The race takes place as part of the last European race of the FIM Superbike World Championship.

Paolo Pavesio, Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe, said: “The concept of the R7 Series National Cups and European SuperFinal is different from that of our other racing series. In the sense that it is not explicitly aimed at young riders who want to pursue a racing career. We offer a low-cost and straightforward format for all those riders who want to race for fun or are looking for the next challenge after their track day experience. Our goal is to create a series with a real sense of community where all riders feel comfortable, regardless of age or experience. A series and event where fathers can also race against each other with their children or friends to finally show who is really the faster. But just as important as the fun of the race is the idea of competition. We are confident that we will see real competition on the track when it comes to securing a place on the Yamaha R7 Series European SuperFinale grid at the end of the season.”
